If you are a writing enthusiast, then surely, you always want to one
day have at least one book published. And of course, the opportunity for you to
turn this dream into a reality is endless. However, is it easy to do?
To write a good book, you will have to put a lot of effort into it.
Just one mistake in choosing a topic, audience and being influenced by external
factors, the longer you can finish writing. In addition, many people often
worry at the publishing stage, but this thinking is very wrong. Writing is the
most interesting part. For many years, I have been in that difficult situation.
As a person who likes to write with great ambition, I always dream of one day
being able to share my thoughts with many people around the world. But the truth
is I'm toying with myself.
Why? Because I never wrote anything. I don't even know where to start. 12
years have passed very quickly and now, I have become the author of 20 books
and received the second prize of readers' favorite votes in 2013 and am trying
to build a bookstore for individuals and businesses, living A life I've always
wanted. Although I haven't had everything according to my social goals yet,
this time has helped me accumulate some very valuable tips.
Here are eight steps I took when I wrote my first book. This is also
what I did when I didn't know what to do next and also the secret to helping me
go from a passionate writer with a very boring job to a full-time writer and

1. Theme selection
You must have something important to share before you start writing.
Like F. Scott Fitzgerald once said, "You don't write because you want to
say something. You write because you have something to say". What will you
write?

Fitzgerald's quote and began to write about the work of writing. As a result,
it was the perfect first step for me because I still do to this day.
You need a topic that interests you enough to make sure you come up
with enough "word" for a blog, brochure, or book. Occasionally, it
may be 3 or more topics. You are not completely "imprisoned" by the
first idea, on the contrary, can develop more things from the key idea without
fear of distracting the reader. However, consider the extent of the topic in
question.
2. Develop a premise
You need an anchor, an "angle" of your own. However, it
doesn't have to be new ideas. You can use the old one but express it in your
own way. See how Seth Godin wrote about marketing or Ernest Hemingway wrote
about bullfighting and you will know. Things have been accomplished by many
people in history, but you are not one of them. That is your difference and
your premise.
3. Think of your readers
The golden rule of writing is that you must understand your audience.
You have to know a lot about them and their needs so they will know how much
you understand them. If you can do that, if you meet them right where they are,
you can elevate them to the right place where you want them to go.
4. Create an outline
Outlining is considered the most boring part of writing. Perhaps you
think this will limit your creativity or drag you right where you just started.
However, the truth is that taking the time to plan will make the rest of the process
a lot quicker and easier.
I have learned this through experience. When I wrote my fifth book this
past summer, I realized that two-thirds of the way—after writing 40,000
words—things suddenly became easier than when I wrote the previous chapters.
Why? Because I happened to create an outline: 5 things, in order, that I want
to be sure to cover in that chapter. And with that outline, writing is like a
very simple "fill in the blank" exercise (sure, simple but not easy).
5. Read, read and read
If you want to be a writer, reading is not a luxury. It is a must. You
have to read many topics and often to see how the books are written and what you
can do to make it different. There are no shortcuts to reading.
6. Set a deadline
When my wife became pregnant earlier this year, we knew our daughter's
due date was approaching. That deadline has made a difference in all of our
family and work activities. We knew we had to get everything done by that point
because whether it was done or not, a new member would appear. There is no
chance to procrastinate or delay due to laziness. Similarly, set a deadline for
your work.
Once you've decided what to write and for whom, it's time to learn to
be a pro and commit to getting it done by that day. Otherwise, your goals will
be disrupted and eclipsed. If choosing when to get it done isn't enough to
motivate you, think of a consequence for not reaching that goal.
7. Make a writing plan
It is useless to try to follow what others have done. You can find
inspiration in the way other people have organized their lives, but don't
forget this: Create a daily plan that works for you and commit to sticking to
it from now until completion. into a book.
There will always be days when you don't want to write at all and
that's certainly the most important time when you need to maintain your form.
In the end, the plan was just that. Dream job is just a job after all. So you
always need a plan.
8. Focus on writing,
don't edit
You've probably heard this before, but I want to repeat it anyway,
because it's pretty much what will keep you from finishing the book.
If you're obsessed with every sentence you've written, you're not
simply a perfectionist. You literally let your motivation drop and it's
impossible to enter a more important state of "progress" where the
words seem to flow and you've achieved your goal. If you try to write all the
sentences well and have a perfect book, you are pursuing the wrong goal.
Instead, find a strategy that will first help you write and then edit after
you're done. What makes you a writer is writing. So it's better to get started.
